Crew post the dates they are open. Productions search against those dates.
What do the statuses mean?
You are shown to productions as available on any day you have not blocked out, so you do not have to post anything to be found.
Posting a block is a positive declaration: available says you are definitely open, unavailable takes those days off the table.
A block also shows as on hold or booked, but you do not set those. They are worked out from the holds sitting on it.
Can a production hold dates I never posted?
Yes, and this is normal. Days you have not marked count as available, so a production can hold any of them.
The hold shows on your calendar and in your list either way. If you do not want offers for a stretch of time, mark it unavailable.
Can they hold dates I marked unavailable?
No. That is refused when they try to place it, and again if they try to edit an existing hold onto those dates.
What if part of a range is held and part is not?
The block says partly held. A block has one status but a hold can cover only some of its days, so the calendar shades day by day rather than claiming the whole range is gone.
Who can answer, and when?
Only the crew member the hold is on, and only while it is pending.
Can I accept more than one hold for the same dates?
Yes, and it is normal. Accepting means you are available and interested, not that you have committed. You can be first for one production and second for another on the same week.
The commitment happens when a production confirms, and only one can.
How long do I have?
The deadline is on the hold. It comes from the production that sent it, and their default is 48 hours unless they picked something else. It can be as short as an hour.
What if I do not answer?
The hold expires on its own and everyone behind it moves up a position. Nobody has to chase you and no calendar sits blocked by something that went quiet.
What if I decline?
The same, immediately. The hold releases and the queue moves up.

What is a challenge?
A production holding second place telling the production ahead of them to decide. The one ahead is put on a clock: confirm the booking or release the dates.
It happens between productions. The crew member is not asked anything and nothing on their side changes.
Can a booking be cancelled?
Yes, by either side, and a reason is required. Releasing is for holds; cancelling is for confirmed bookings, and the other party is told with the reason you gave.
What happens to holds once the dates pass?
Anything still unanswered is closed out as released, so old holds do not sit in your list forever.
How quickly does any of this happen?
Expiries, lapsed challenges, and past-dated holds are processed in the background every few minutes rather than the instant a deadline passes. Give it a moment before assuming something is stuck.
Who can see my rate?
Only if you set it to public. The default is on request, and you can hide it entirely. A hidden rate is never sent to the browser, so a filter cannot leak it either.
Can other productions see who has booked me?
They see that the dates are taken and what position they would be in, but not which company. Knowing a rival booked a monitor engineer for a given week leaks their tour schedule.
You see every company on your own calendar, and a company always sees its own name on its own holds.
Who reads the notes a production writes about me?
Only that company. Notes and flags never cross companies and are never shown to crew. Anyone on that team can delete one; only the person who wrote it can edit it.
Why can a new production not see rates or message me?
Company accounts are reviewed before those open up. Everything else works while they wait: searching, your profile, your availability, and placing holds.
